Our Church History

Our Church History IBC was formed in April 1968 as the second English-speaking congregation in Belgium. On 18 March 1973 the mission church became International Baptist Church of Brussels.

Because of the increasing number of church members and attendees in the seventies, IBC Brussels purchased a large property on the outskirts of Brussels, in Wezembeek-Oppem. In 1985 the first non-missionary pastor, Phil Roberts was called. Church members and three teams of Carpenters for Christ put their time and energy into the large amount of renovation work that was needed for this project. On 20 September 1987 the new church building was officially dedicated.

Phil Roberts was succeeded in 1990 by Ulrich Dolder who served until 1994. For the next five years, a succession of interim pastors from the US and the UK ministered to IBC.

From November 1999 to December 2002, Andrew Anderson served as Pastor/Elder. Before coming to IBC, Andrew pastored two churches in the UK and was in an itinerant ministry that took him around the world. Upon Andrew's departure, a search for a new pastor was initiated in 2003.

Roger and Nancy Roberts Our current pastor, Roger Roberts and his wife, Nancy, joined the IBC family in November of 2003. Roger brings to IBC 37 years of pastoral experience along with his gifts of preaching the Word and caring for God's people. He and Nancy are excited about the opportunity to join in God's unique mission with the diverse and loving people at IBC.
